The Nicholas Hurlbut Memorial Fund
Why this Fund was created
The Nicolas Hurlbut Memorial Fund was created by two young men in their early twenties who want to keep alive the memory of a dear friend who lost his battle to cancer. Paul Koehler, member of the band Silverstein, and Ryan Henderson decided to build a fund in memory of their friend after much success of BroFest, a concert they began in 2006 in Nick’s memory.
The first BroFest concert was an opportunity for Nick’s friends to turn their grief into something positive, meaningful, and productive. In cooperation with the Burlington YMCA, BroFest brought together a menagerie of local bands to raise funds and cancer awareness, as well as provide an opportunity for friends and family to connect in celebration of Nick’s life. Bands generously donated not only their time and talent, but all proceeds from ticket sales and merchandise.
Ultimately, BroFest raised over $10 000 for various cancer related organizations in its first year. All proceeds of this event were directly donated to the Nicholas Hurlbut Memorial Fund.
