Halton Black History Awareness Society (HBHAS) – $5,000 (Grow grant)

HBHAS develops programs to help reduce racism, prejudice and stereotyping towards marginalized communities while increasing knowledge of Canadian history and its cultural landscape. This is achieved through events including the Halton Freedom Festival. The Halton Freedom Festival, being held in the summer of 2020 at Spencer Smith Park, will attract over 3,000 attendees with the support of 20 volunteers. This grant will assist in securing musicians to perform at the festival.
