Matt Afinec serves as President and COO, Business Operations, for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats; the 2021 Grey Cup Festival – Hamilton; and Forge FC Hamilton Soccer Club.

With the Tiger-Cats since 2010, Matt was a member of the executive team that represented the Club for the development of Tim Hortons Field. He went on to lead the Club’s efforts to secure a landmark 10-year naming rights partnership with Tim Hortons. Prior to the Tiger-Cats, Matt held various management positions with the Toronto Argonauts.

In 2014, Matt was recognized by George Brown College, the Globe & Mail and TSN as one of the ‘5 to Watch’ in Canadian Sports Business. In 2016, he was awarded a Top 40 Under 40 for business achievement in Hamilton by Business Link Media group. Born and raised in Burlington, Matt graduated from McGill and lives in Burlington with his wife and two sons. Joining the Burlington Foundation board in 2018 and subsequently serving as Vice-Chair, Matt is proud to have taken on the role as Chair with the Foundation from June 2020-2022 in support of strengthening our community.
