Burlington, ON, August 17, 2023 – Today, Burlington Foundation is pleased to announce $532,000 in funding to support seven projects in Burlington through the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund. The Community Services Recovery Fund is a one-time investment of $400 million by the Government of Canada to help Community Service Organizations, charities, non-profits and Indigenous governing bodies located in Canada. Community service organizations are at the heart of communities like Burlington, creating a sense of belonging from coast to coast to coast. The Community Services Recovery Fund will enable organizations that serve our diverse communities to adapt and modernize their programs and services and to invest in the future of their organizations, staff and volunteers. Together, we can rebuild from the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic and build a more just and equitable future for those in Burlington.
The following projects are being supported in Burlington:
- $100,000 invested to fund The Halton Region Conservation Authority to develop an Innovation Hub.
- $63,463 invested to fund BurlingtonGreen Environmental Association to develop and implement its organizational resiliency.
- $85,560 invested to fund The Central Canadian District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada to implement a new Human Resources Information System.
- $50,206 invested to fund Restorations Second Stage Homes to Develop, Evaluate and Update Governance Policies and develop a new Strategic Plan.
- $47,771 invested to fund West Plains United Church to implement online IT/AV enhancements to connect with its community.
- $100,000 invested to fund Compassion Society of Halton to hire staff resourcing to support its charity operations.
- $85,000 invested to fund the Halton Islamic Association to modernize and improve its organizational resiliency.
