Vital Signs

Burlington is a vibrant and generous community, with abundant natural beauty. However, there are evolving and urgent needs in our city as well.

Across Canada, community foundations use Vital Signs reports as a check-up to measure the vitality of our communities and support action toward improving our collective quality of life. It is Canada’s most extensive community-driven data program.

Our Vital Signs report aims to take the pulse of our community, identifying community needs, sparking civic engagement and informing decision-making at all levels. We do this through national and first-hand data, collecting information about a series of Vital Indicators that create a snapshot of Burlington today.

Vital Indicators include, but are not limited to, housing, living standards, arts and culture, the economy, the environment, and sports and recreation.

Our next Vital Signs report will be available in Fall 2025.

We hope this information, presented in an easy-to-understand grading system, will encourage community engagement, conversation and action about how we can be a welcoming and inclusive Burlington for all.
