Burlington Foundation is proud to announce the appointment of Tim Cestnick, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, and two new Directors, following its AGM in June 2024.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Tim into his Chair role, and to be working in partnership with community champions like Tulika Majumdar and Lisa Ritchie,” says Megan Tregunno, Chief Executive Officer of Burlington Foundation. “As we celebrate our 25th year as a community Foundation, we also recognize that Burlington has evolved so much as a city. We have a big year ahead of us, creating a strategic plan to guide the Foundation into the future, and I’m grateful to have such a committed and passionate Board to embark on this chapter with, in service of our community.”
Meet Tim Cestnick, Board Chair
Tim Cestnick is a Burlington resident and has been a Burlington Foundation Board Director for several years, most recently Chairing the Investment Committee, which oversees the Investment Strategy for the Foundation’s permanent endowment fund.
Tim brings a wealth of experience in business and non-profit volunteer sectors. As co-founder and CEO of Our Family Office Inc., Canada’s leading wealth advisory firm to affluent families, Tim is one of Canada’s most respected experts and public speakers in the area of tax and personal finance. In addition to his CA designation, he is a Chartered Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Public Accountant (Illinois), a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP).
Tim’s national speaking profile is confirmed by his position as tax columnist for the Globe & Mail’s Report on Business. He has authored 18 best-selling books and is a radio and television on-air contributor, appearing regularly on CTV, CBC and BNN.
Meet Tulika Majumdar, Board Director
Tulika has a degree in engineering and has nearly 20 years of experience in technology modernization for Financial Services. During her tenure with TD Bank, Tulika has specialized in Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Anti-Terrorist Financing (ATF) programs. Tulika has also worked in the public sector for the Govt. of Ontario, modernizing their life events registry process.
Originally from India, Tulika comes from a family of engineers with strong roots in community development. Since childhood Tulika has shared their passion for building a stronger and involved community. After having migrated to Canada in 2013, Tulika has been the United Way Champion and participated in multiple Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. She has been part of the Women in Leadership (WIL) committee at TD Bank and believes in influencing and inspiring women to take on and grow into leadership roles.
Tulika has made Burlington her home since 2018 and lives here with her husband, daughter and pet husky. Through the Burlington Foundation, Tulika wishes to make a positive impact in building a thriving, prosperous and inclusive Burlington.
Meet Lisa Ritchie, Investment Committee Chair & Board Director
Lisa Ritchie is a Burlington resident and is passionate about the mission of community foundations. She has been a member of the Foundation’s Investment Committee for many years, including guiding the Foundation through pivotal growth periods.
Lisa spent more than 35 years in the investment business, including 16 years at Phillips Hager & North and she most recently retired from a senior counselling position at Burgundy Asset Management Ltd.
Lisa holds two Donor Advised Funds with the Burlington Foundation and helps to address our city’s most pressing needs through her giving.
