Online donations, major commitments, support from local business, and a generous gift from a local service club: the Housing Support Fund is being built by community.
Inspired by the voices of Burlington residents who identified housing affordability as a top priority in BCF’s 2025 Vital Signs research report, the Housing Support Fund was established with two key goals: 1) Raise immediate funding for urgent housing needs from non-profit Wesley and Shifra Homes, and 2) Establish a permanent fund that will be invested, producing annual grants to local housing charities.
BCF fundholders have joined in by making new donations and allocating grants from their own donor advised funds, to help address the housing crisis.
The Rotary Club of Burlington Central was also quick to lead with a $5,000 donation to help kick off early efforts.
“Our members are very proud to know that we are helping to fund essential support for families and young expectant mothers seeking help through Wesley and Shifra Homes,” said Club President Susan Jasper. “We’re grateful for the leadership role that BCF has played in driving this important campaign.”
Local businesses are also finding ways to contribute, such Osobelle Tea Co. donating a portion of sales from CommuniTea Sessions held on every Tuesday in December at the Osobelle Tea House holiday pop-up (inside Burlington Centre).
Proceeds from these sessions will directly benefit the Housing Support Fund. To book a CommuniTea Session or visit the Tea House, visit here.
Donations to the Housing Support Fund can be made online, through cheque, credit card, gifts of donated securities, and more. Contact our team to learn more: 905-639-0744 ext. 2 or Info@BurlingtonFoundation.org.
