Welcome to a Volunteer Story

Brian Weatherdon

Brian Weatherdon gives both financially to the Burlington Community Foundation (BCF) and of his time as a committed volunteer, a role he has played since 2006. Brian is a Burlington-based professional advisor who, together with his wife Virginia, established an endowed fund in 2010 that focuses on early and lifelong nutrition. Brian volunteers with BCF as an active member of our Growth and Development Committee which is directly involved with informing the professional advisors’ community about the advantages of investing in BCF.

Brian volunteers because he has a deep sense of needs in the community. “Many of us are doing well and we can get through tougher times. Some people cannot, and some organizations cannot. Time, leadership, and financial support are the vital contribution to our local and wider community that we can offer through Burlington Community Foundation,” shares Brian.
“Volunteering with any charity is valuable and absolutely vital to both our local and global community. Volunteering specifically for BCF offers strategic efficiencies, creating stronger results for many of the specific charities we want to encourage and move forward,” Brian says.

In his role as a professional advisor, he also shares the impact the BCF has on the others in the community. “I come across many people who are willing to give if there’s a way to do it that aligns with key values they already have. This is true of both individuals and businesses. Introducing prospective donors to BCF is something like magic because it shares the opportunity to give where it means the most both to the giver and to the community as a whole.”
Brian expresses the impact that volunteering has on him, “I learn so much through the experience of others.  There is tremendous power in the group, each member with their own talents that contribute vigorously to supporting our community. That’s why it’s so fulfilling to each do our own part,” he says.
