Leighan Basadur is the youngest daughter of Burlington Foundation founding member and 2011 Burlington Philanthropist of the Year, Doug Leggat. In the years since its inception in 1922, Leggat continues to be a recognizable name in southern Ontario thanks to three consecutive generations of the Leggat family operating the Group and Leighan has played a key role in building on that legacy. For many years, Leighan was President of Leggat-Saturn-Saab in Burlington. During its operation, Leighan and her team were instrumental in working with the City of Burlington to build new or revitalize existing community playgrounds through the Saturn Playground Program. As a tireless community advocate, Leighan is an active leader who has supported many local causes including the Joseph Brant Hospital, Royal Botanical Gardens and YMCA Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford. Leighan is currently the Chair of the Halton Waldorf School. Leighan and her husband Bob have lived in Burlington since 2001. They have two children, a daughter and a son.
