Because arts and culture contribute to quality of life and well being, they are a critical element of any highly-successful community.

When renowned physicist Albert Einstein once stated that “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you anywhere,” he perfectly summarized how creativity is fundamental to innovation.

Taking this thought a step further, Woody Dumas, former Mayor of Baton Rouge, Louisiana noted, “The arts are the best insurance policy a city can take on itself.”

Burlington keeps being recognized as one of the best places in Canada to live, work and play…and our thriving arts and cultural sector is one of the reasons why.

While there are many components that help make a city livable, when budgets are tight, arts and cultural programming is often the first area to face cutbacks and financial constraints.
